Southside

Today I gained some of the happiness from my past back. It didn't come in the form of huge activity. It didn't come in the form of moving to a new place or even back to an old place. It didn't come from seeing someone.

Instead it came from a song.

This was one of my favorite songs when I was a kid. Just listening to it brings joy to my world. It reminds me of the days of running around the neighborhood in 100 degree heat trying to find someone to play with. It reminds me of relentlessly trying to get the attention of the boys at the end of the corner even though they didn't want to play with me. It reminds me of the times I used to swim for hours without a care. There were no worries of chlorine damaging my hair or staying out in the sun too long. It reminds me of Sunday nights when I would turn to 97.9 just to listen to screwed and chopped music.

I can't go back to those times, but I hope my future child gets to experience as many exciting times as I did.
