Burning The Wedding Dress?

What does the burning of a wedding dress mean to you? If you're single with no kids or boyfriend does it make a difference? If you're not married but have several kids by a man, does that make the burning of the wedding dress any different? Laura Govan is in the latest issue of Black Men's Magazine making her own statement about the issue.

"I just don’t like the way the public perceives women who aren’t married vs. the way they perceive women that are. People place so much value on having a great wedding instead of having a great relationship; that’s why you see people get married and divorced so quickly. I’ve been with the same man for 12 years, we have four children and we’re happy. Focus on that."- Via NecoleBitchie

I agree with Laura. If you're happy not being married, then the ring should not mean a thing. The wedding dress should not matter at all. Although, I'm not about to drop ideas of the perfect man, the perfect wedding ring, and the perfect marriage.

I want that ideally perfect marriage (that works for me). I want that idea that a man is going to claim me as more than his baby mama. He will claim me as more than a girlfriend because I'm more than that.
