Iyanla Vanzant: Black Girls Rock

Recently I heard about BET's "Black Girls Rock," which will air soon, and I was curious as to why I should watch it. On the commercials I saw faces, such as Wendy Williams, but I wasn't motivated. Anyone who watches the "Wendy Williams Show" knows that she's more of a hot mess than someone to be inspired by. However, earlier I found a better reason to watch "Black Girl's Rock."

That reason is Iyanla Vanzant. She's going to grace the stage and give her words of wisdom. I'm excited. Whether they know it or not every young writer has been influenced by Vanzant. Vanzant is the Zora Neale Hurston of our time. She is Zane before Zane came into existence. She's the inspiration for the urban Christian fiction folks. Her words are embedded into every woman video blogger that gets the courage to broadcast their opinion to thousands of people over the internet.

So if you can't find any other reason to tune into BET's "Black Girl's Rock" do it to hear the wise words of Iyanla Vanzant.
