In the following paragraph Miss Sex And The City, aka Camille Daniels, talks about her battle with breaking out of her comfort zone.
Getting Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Sometimes it can be a bit much, stepping out of my comfort zone. However the career I wish to pursue (journalism) causes me to have to do that, whether I agree with it or not. Some things make me very uncomfortable but at the same time fascinate me. For example, transsexuals, are a bit out of the box for me. And I know it’s because I don’t get it. I mean I get it, but it’s still very weird to me that someone would want to change their sex. Like…what’s wrong with the body you have? Or rather, how can you say your male, but your lower half is female? To me that’s false advertisement, it’s really half and half. One half is looking like a male and the other half is female or vice versa. Like…what is someone suppose to do with that? It’s just confusing to me. I say do the whole kitten cab bottle. However everyone has to do what’s right for them. I don’t have to agree but everyone has a story and those stories need to be told to help people to understand, to be aware and to save the lives of others. That I do agree with. So I must prepare myself for the fact that there are going to areas that I’ll have to cover that I may not want to cover, but I have to remember there is a story there that must be told and voices that must be heard regardless of how I feel. I know how I feel may be wrong, or people may feel I’m being harsh, but I also know I’m not alone. Like some other topics, it’s something some people don’t agree with or understand. That comforts me, to know that I’m not alone in trying to understand this topic and work through my feelings about it even if I’m not 100 percent with it.
What issues have pushed you out of your comfort zone? Or do you ever leave your comfort zone?
